Technology Spotlight – Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM)

As part of Woodland Plastics’ commitment to quality, we utilize various technologies to meet and exceed our customers’ quality requirements. A coordinate measuring machine, or CMM, is an automated technology used by our quality department to measure the physical geometry of a part.

Using the CMM, Woodland Plastics is able to check multiple features of a part on different planes, angles, & radii. The CMM provides measurement data with extremely high precision and accuracy, allowing Woodland to compare physical part dimensions of a molded part with engineering drawings or 3D CAD data. Because the operation is automated, Woodland can also limit labor costs of first article inspection and/or PPAP requirements.
