Shift Supervisor
Job Description:
Summary/Objective
The Shift Supervisor is responsible for supervising shift employees including Operators and Material Handlers. The Shift supervisor assigns work, enforces policies and procedures and recommends improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions. The Shift Supervisor is also responsible for job changeovers and troubleshooting during the shift. The Shift Supervisor practices safe habits to ensure production is as efficient and safe as possible while ensuring customer satisfaction.
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Lead, Manage and Hold Accountable
- Assign work/Supervise shift employees.
- Set goals for shift employees and monitor their progress.
- Maintain operation conditions within set tolerances
- Recommend improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions.
- Troubleshoot issues.
- Ensure all policies and procedures are followed
- Complete job changeovers
- Ensure items from previous job are removed from the workstation and put away.
- Ensure items needed for current job are present at the workstation.
- Set up and start new jobs according to the work instructions.
- Maintain plant cleanliness and organization
- Maintain 5S at the workstation.
- Ensure operators and material handlers keep their workstations clean and neat.
- Ensure overall plant cleanliness.
- Perform and evaluate operator training
- Maintain training records in each job folder.
- Maintain Production Skills Matrix.

Supervisory Responsibility
The Shift Supervisor supervises the Operators and Material Handler on the assigned shift.
Minimum Qualifications for Hire
1. High school diploma or GED.
2. Ability to communicate in English and Spanish (written/orally).
3. 3-5 years of plastics processing experience in injection molding.
4. Comfortable using basic computer software (Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word).
Preferred Qualifications (On the job training provided)
1. Experience in injection molded thermosets.
2. Comfortable with basic hand tools.
3. Forklift Certified.
4. Able to use overhead crane.
5. Knowledge of general safety best practices.
6. Knowledge of all applicable quality standards.
7. Proficient in applicable IQMS software modules.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job the employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. Most of the work will be performed in manufacturing facility where the noise level may be loud.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see, talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must also be able to climb stairs and ladders and may be required to lift up to 55 lbs. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing all day.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday. Hours of work are dependent on the assigned shift. Overtime as required.
1st Shift: 6:30 am to 3:15 pm
2nd Shift: 3:00 pm to 11:15 pm
3rd Shift: 10:30 pm to 7:15 am
Travel
Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.
