Terminal Block for Appliance Industry
Interested in developing a part with a material that is able to handle high temperature cycles and steam, a manufacturer of home appliances contacted us for our thoughts on molding a terminal block application out of a thermoset plastic material.
After further discussion, the appliance manufacturer partnered with Woodland Plastics to utilize our thermoset molding services to mold their terminal block out of Bulk Molding Compound (BMC) 605 – a thermoset polyester material – which provides resistance to steam, corrosion, heat, and also provides excellent insulation and electrical performance properties. Using an 8-Cavity tool, the terminal block is injection molded in a 500-ton thermoset injection molding press.
